In a move to enhance its freight services Air Canada Cargo will offer year-round cargo operations to key European cities that were previously only operational during the summer season.
The move by the Air Canada’s cargo arm follows the decision to similarly extend passenger services to a year round basis.
Year-Round Connectivity
One of the significant developments in the Canadian flag carrier’s strategy is the decision to provide year-round capacity on select routes.
Montreal to Rome is one of the focus routes that will continue to operate year-round. Similarly, freight services from Toronto to Copenhagen and Madrid will also now remain operational throughout the year.
Lyon: A Service Resumption
The carrier’s commitment to expanding its offerings is further demonstrated with the reintroduction of service to Lyon. Starting in mid-October, Lyon will be back on the map, coinciding with the resumption of passenger services on the route.

“We are pleased to offer additional cargo capacity on widebody routes year-round, and provide customers with more options on key markets between Europe and Canada.”
Matthieu Casey, the managing director of Commercial at Air Canada Cargo was enthuisastic about these developments, stating,
“The belly capacity of Air Canada’s passenger network complements our freighter service, and these new routes together with additional passenger schedule frequencies will bolster the offering over the Atlantic.”
Increased Frequencies
In addition to the new year-round routes, Air Canada Cargo is set to benefit from increased frequencies on various routes departing from either Toronto or Montreal.
These routes include Barcelona, Casablanca, Paris, Lisbon, Athens, Rome, and Edinburgh. This increase in frequencies not only enhances passenger options but also augments cargo capacity, making it easier than ever to transport goods between these vibrant cities.
