Bratislava . In Slovakia, President Zuzana Caputova will officially appoint the new government of civil servants on Monday. This was announced by the President’s Office on Friday via the state news agency TASR . Originally, the appointment was only announced for the next few days. After almost all the names of the ministerial candidates had already been leaked to the media in advance, Caputova announced the entire list of ministers on Friday and finally brought forward the appointment date.
The cabinet headed by non-party financial expert Ludovit Odor replaces the conservative minority government of Prime Minister Eduard Heger. Like any new government, the cabinet of experts must face a vote of confidence in parliament within 30 days of being appointed. The designated Prime Minister Odor was previously Deputy Governor of the Slovak National Bank NBS. 20 years ago he was involved in a neoliberal tax reform. Both the future foreign and defense minister have gained diplomatic experience in Washington, among other places. With her selection, Caputova apparently wanted to ensure that Slovakia would continue its military support to Ukraine. (dpa/jW)
