Alanna McDonald will offer strong global perspective plus digital experience and more to drive the company mission

Mars Petcare, a company focusing in veterinary health, pet nutrition, innovation and technology, has appointed Alanna McDonald as the regional president for its Mars Pet Nutrition division in North America. Her position at the company begins November 21, 2022.

She understands the massive potential of a well-placed digital experience – positioning us to meet the evolving needs of pet parents for years to come,” expressed Ikdeep Singh, global president, Mars Pet Nutrition, in a company release.1 “She is purpose-driven and a champion of equity, inclusion and diversity with a passion for Associate development that will greatly benefit our North American business and talented Associates.”

McDonald has over 20 years’ experience helping to grow noteworthy brands around the globe. Before joining the Mars Petcare team, McDonald served for the last 7 years in general management roles for recognizable beauty brands in the US and Canada. These included president of Maybelline New York, Garnier and essie at L’Oreal.

Before L’Oreal, McDonald spent 17 years at Procter & Gamble, working in China, Hong Kong, Canada, and the US in different positions centered around category leadership, sales, and marketing/brand management.

In this new position at Mars Petcare, McDonald will offer deep consumer packaged goods expertise to push further innovation in the pet food category. She will be responsible for the entire Mars Pet Nutrition North America portfolio, and will develop the company’s associates, brands, and operations while following the company’s purpose: A better world for pets.

McDonald achieved a bachelor’s degree in Commerce from The University of Calgary and is on the Board of Directors at Big Rock Brewery based in Calgary.
