Tajikistan and Qatar Discussed Prospects for Economic Cooperation

Prospects for the development of cooperation were discussed at the meetings of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Zavka Zavqizoda with the Chairman of the Qatar Investment Authority Mansour bin Ibrahim al-Mahmoud, the founder of the International Islamic Bank Sheikh Ali Abdullah Soni al-Soni, as well as with the Chairman of the Council of Entrepreneurs of Qatar and directors of the group of companies Faisal Holding Sheikh Faisal bin Qasim oli Soni. 

According to the press center of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the meetings were held within the framework of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries called “From Potential to Prosperity”.

The meetings addressed issues of expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation between Tajikistan and Qatar, attracting additional capital to priority projects in the national economy, including energy, industry, transport, agriculture, healthcare and exports, as well as the full use of resources and opportunities both countries.

The parties agreed to regularly monitor the development and implementation of these projects in order to expand mutually beneficial cooperation.

Sheikh Faisal bin Qasim al-Sani emphasized that the Republic of Tajikistan, as a safe and stable country in the region, has large natural resources and wide opportunities for investors, and ordinary entrepreneurs are interested in developing mutually beneficial cooperation with the Republic of Tajikistan in all spheres of the economy.

It should be noted that representatives of more than 46 countries of the world and influential international organizations took part in the conference.

Investments in human resources, poverty alleviation, the use of scientific, technological and investment opportunities, international trade, combating climate change, COVID-19 and other issues were discussed.
