Japanese budget airline Zipair Tokyo has announced it will open a new route between Narita Airport near Tokyo and Canada’s west coast city of Vancouver next year.

The Japan Airlines subsidiary says it plans three weekly round-trip flights from March.
It will be the first Japanese low-cost carrier to fly to Canada.
Zipair currently operates eight routes from Narita to Asia and the US, including Seoul and Los Angeles.

The company is looking to attract tourists as well as Japanese students, as Canada is a popular destination for studying abroad.

Zipair says Narita is a useful transit point for people traveling from Canada. It says it hopes to harness the post-pandemic demand for air travel and provide services at attractive prices.
